In the Lower School, children participate in a wellness class each week that covers relevant, health-related topics. Our school nurse teaches lessons in safety, nutrition, and health and our Wellness Coordinator covers topics of mindfulness, empathy, inclusion, goal setting, and executive functioning skills. Our wellness curriculum is enhanced with relevant guest speakers and community-building, weekly assemblies that reinforce our Core Values. Above all, relationships are the cornerstone of our school. Our low student-to-teacher ratios and highly-trained and devoted faculty enable an environment where every student and family is known, ensuring an atmosphere where caring and learning are inseparable.
In grades six through twelve, students learn about fitness, nutrition, stress management, and emotional intelligence through advisory sessions and required physical education courses. Reinforcement of our core values of respect, integrity, service, excellence, and responsibility garner character development during this pivotal time of adolescent growth. On the Uihlein Campus, community and individual wellness are overseen by the Directors of Counseling and Academic Services and the school nurse.
A certified athletic trainer is also available on-site to support student physical wellness and instruct students in healthy, developmentally appropriate fitness practices.
