Athletic Philosophy

Consistent with The Out-of-Door Academy's mission and philosophy, the athletics program embraces our core values. Student-athletes strive for excellence, which requires commitment and discipline.
Teamwork, sportsmanship, and integrity are integral components of our athletic experience. Through athletic pursuits on teams in grades 6-12, student-athletes learn important life lessons and develop leadership, integrity, and respect. These growth opportunities prepare them for success in their athletic endeavors and in life.

List of 3 items.

  • Love

Every student-athlete is seen as an individual and not a position. Our coaches instill in them love of the fundamentals of each sport, a desire to strengthen their individual skills, and a passion for team play. As a team, our coaching staff stresses camaraderie, the importance of each role on the team, and a desire to test their skills in a competitive environment.
  • Develop

Student-athletes are taught the ODA performance standards and expectations in a team environment. It is stressed that the team comes first over the individual and that in order to help the team reach its full potential, the individual must have a success-oriented mindset.
  • Compete

Through this development and passion for athletics, student-athletes are given all the tools they need to earn varsity positions and use their game management skills to help their teams succeed.
