Announcing the ODA Graduate of Distinction Program

At Out-of-Door, we believe in nurturing each student’s unique passions and talents to prepare them for impactful futures. With this vision in mind, we’re proud to introduce the Graduate of Distinction Program, a prestigious opportunity for Upper School students to delve deeply into select areas of academic interest while earning recognition for their achievements.

The Graduate of Distinction Program offers Upper School students the opportunity to explore their passions in one of two specialized fields: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and Fine and Performing Arts. Beginning with the Class of 2027, this innovative program will integrate interdisciplinary learning, experiential education, and mentorship, culminating in a senior capstone project showcasing each student’s expertise and growth.

Students who are interested in pursuing this prestigious program will be required to apply and will follow individualized paths guided by expert advisors. These paths will include committing to advanced coursework, engaging in impactful extracurricular activities, and participating in creative or research-based projects that reflect their field of study. Whether through an artistic portfolio or a STEM research defense, participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate leadership, dedication, and mastery of their chosen discipline.

This program embodies ODA’s mission by combining academic rigor with hands-on learning and personal growth, inspiring students to contribute meaningfully to their communities and the wider world. The Graduate of Distinction Program not only celebrates student excellence but also emphasizes the transformative power of specialized education in preparing future leaders, innovators, and creative thinkers. Through this program, ODA highlights the importance of passion-driven learning and its ability to shape well-rounded, accomplished individuals.

Looking ahead, The Out-of-Door Academy plans to expand the program with future distinctions in Global Citizenship and Business, further enriching opportunities for students to excel in diverse fields in the years to come.

For more information about this new, exciting initiative, please contact Mrs. Julie Bianchi, Associate Head of School for Academics and Innovation. Current sophomores and freshmen will soon receive additional information about this program.
