History

The Middle School history program and its teachers are dedicated to providing students opportunities to understand the forces that shape the world around them and to clarify their own values. The program is designed to foster critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills while focusing on Geography (sixth grade), World Cultures (seventh grade), and American history (eighth grade). In many cases, the students read works in English class that pertain to the era being studied in history. In addition to learning how to construct effective research papers, students will be involved in hands-on activities and in-depth projects as they study specific topics of history. The curricula have been designed to provide students with the political, social, cultural, interdisciplinary, and international foundation necessary to be successful at the Upper School and to become responsible global citizens and life-long learners.
