Middle & Upper School Arts Day was a full-day celebration, featuring a variety of performances, live pottery demonstrations, and a visual art gallery that spanned both floors of the Arts Building. Click for photos from Middle & Upper School Arts Day.
Student-artists were in the spotlight throughout the day on the Uihlein Campus with musical performances, visual art displays, and a chorus concert. Guests toured the Arts Building exhibits to view ceramics, paintings, digital art, drawings, and sculptures. Visitors especially enjoyed walking through the bookend installations of butterflies and decagons on the second floor as they viewed three-dimensional "cities," hand-thrown pottery, and wire sculptures on display.
The Middle and Upper School Chorus members left their audience visibly moved by their concert in the Black Box Theater. "When Will My Life Begin" featuring Avery Blank '28, "I Sing Because I'm Happy," "The Dream Keeper," and “Ain’t Misbehavin’” were among the pieces sung by the talented ODA singers during their performance.
In the Petrik Thunderdome, the Advanced Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Band, Orchestra, and Concert Band gave an inspiring concert for proud parents, friends, and family members. "Cumberland Cross," Coldplay's "Clocks," "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" featuring Natalie Carrión '23, and "Birdland" were handled with skill; solos by confident student-musicians were applauded fiercely, and the mix of classic, folk, contemporary, funk, traditional, and rock tunes had the feet of the audience tapping!
