Book Swap Sparks Imagination and Encourages Philanthropy
Over the past two weeks, students at the Lower School and Siesta Key campuses brought in well-loved books to ODA's Lower School Book Swap, a program that gives used books renewed purpose by recycling books to new readers at ODA or passing them along to children in need.
Students brought in gently used books and exchanged them for tickets. Later in the week, they visited a beautifully set up “bookstore” created by parent volunteers in the Glendy Huene Library and the Clark Road Welcome Center where students were able to browse a wide selection of books and exchange their tickets for new reads.
If a student couldn’t find a new book that spoke to them, Mrs. Glynis Miller encouraged them to donate by placing their unused tickets in a donation box. This year's donated books went to Wilkinson Elementary, a Title 1 school, to inspire a new generation of young readers!
