Oh The Places You'll Go in Middle School!

Our 6th, 7th and 8th grade minimesters provide students with a unique opportunity to deepen their learning from the school year, while offering an opportunity to build community spirit within their grade levels. "Our minimester trips are a great way to wrap up the school year," said 8th grade minimester chaperone and Head of Middle School, Jay Mahn. "We’ve got our students and their advisors away from campus, continuing to bond in their respective cohorts. While academics are attached to these trips, the biggest takeaways from these voyages are the experiences and the fun had by all."

Our sixth graders ventured to the Florida Keys to further their knowledge about Florida's marine ecosystems. Students ventured from Marathon to Key Largo where they visited a sea turtle hospital, snorkeled to identify sea life, kayaked through mangrove tunnels, studied lionfish, and experienced the Everglades. Sixth grade STEM educator and 6th grade minimester chaperone, Mr. Johnathan BySura, prepared the following video  and photo album to highlight the experience had by this class of intrepid explorers.

Seventh grade had their own Floridian adventure! Students deepened their exploration of world cultures through the interactive exhibits and attractions in the World Showcase at Epcot, and immersed themselves in the art of storytelling at a Disney Imagination Campus workshop. The journey concluded at the Kennedy Space Center, where students explored monumental achievements in space exploration and the impact of these historic events on global dynamics. Our eighth graders boarded a plane from Tampa to Washington, DC, where they became the ultimate tourists in our nation's Capital. Aside from visiting monuments and museums, they caught an MLB baseball game at Nationals Stadium. Next, it was off to New York City, to experience the culture of the Big Apple.
